INSTALLING HARDLOCK DRIVERS

In order to use Hardlock under Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP/2003
you must first install the support drivers.

HLDINST.EXE is a command shell utility that can be used to install
and uninstall the Hardlock driver. The installation updates the
driver files only if they contain an older version.

To install Hardlock drivers using HLDINST.EXE, the haspds_windows.dll must be
available in the same directory as the installer.

The driver files are included in the install program itself, so
there is no need to ship the driver files separately!
Use the following command to install the drivers:

HLDINST -install

HLDINST takes the driver files from it's image and copies the
files to the appropriate system directories and starts the Hardlock
service. Once the drivers are installed and running, you can execute
protected programs.

To remove the Hardlock service from the system, enter the following:

HLDINST -remove

No application using the Hardlock driver should be running at this time.
Note that the HLDINST stops the Hardlock service, and removes the registry
entries belonging to the Hardlock driver.

** CAUTION **
When upgrading the driver, make sure no service is currently using the
driver. Although the installer is able to terminate running
applications, it cannot terminate running services. Therefore, if
the HL-Server is running as a service, you have to stop the service before
upgrading the driver.
** CAUTION **
